Merry Christmas from Pastor Sam Lavender & Family

Posted on Mon, Dec 24, 2018

Dear Zion Church family,

Hilary, the kids and I are so thrilled about coming to Zion.  Things are pretty busy around here with Christmas right around the corner.   We have already had our Christmas Cantata as you have as well.  We had a good turnout and a good spirit.

These will be busy, but thrilling days as we anticipate arriving at Zion.  We are already beginning to say our goodbyes and shed a few tears.   We have enjoyed the St Louis area and our communities of Godfrey, and Alton where the church and school are located.  We leave our church in good hands with our recently hired Pastor, Alan Waddell.  The school is doing well and will enjoy a brand new gym floor just shortly after this letter is read.

Our last Sunday here will be Jan 20.  The next weekend, Jan 25, we will drive to Minneapolis, Minnesota to celebrate the arrival of Hilary’s brother’s new son.  We will pack the moving truck on the 29th, and drive over the next couple of days.  Our first Sunday with you folks will be on February 3.  We know that that will be Super Bowl Sunday, and we feel like we’ve scored a big touchdown being with you folks.

We are praying for you in these days.  Christ birth was planned in eternity past and so was God’s love for you.  Be like the shepherds who, “returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told unto them (Luke 2:20).

See you soon and Merry Christmas!
