Family Trip to the NC Zoo - Sat. Sept. 22

Meet at the Church for breakfast at 7:45 am, depart at 8 am

Please signup at Church or sent e-mail to Eddie Gunter at [email protected]

Park Hours

The Zoo is open year round except Christmas Day.

April - October

9 a.m. - 5 p.m.

What to Bring

Comfortable walking shoes are strongly recommended. While the Zoo provides transportation to strategic locations inside the Park, the best way to experience the Zoo is by walking. The Park includes five miles of tree-lined trails. Check the weather forecast and dress appropriately because you will be outside for the majority of your visit. Bring an umbrella or rain jacket in case it rains (as an outdoor facility, we do not issue rain checks or refunds). Sunscreen and hats are a good idea for hot days. You can also purchase inexpensive rain jackets, ponchos, sunscreen and hats in our gift shops

Camera and video cameras are encouraged to photograph the amazing wildlife!

Binoculars come in handy at some exhibits like the Aviary, Prairie and Watani Grasslands Reserve.

September 22 & 23, 2012

11 a.m. - 2 p.m.
Kitera Forest and Forest Glade exhibits

Don’t miss this event dedicated to the chimpanzees and gorillas at the North Carolina Zoo. Kid-favorite activities include making a gorilla nest, "foraging" for food and talking one-on-one with a chimpanzee or gorilla keeper. Learn about these endangered apes and how you can help their wild cousins.
